Section IV: Event Description
The 2008 Doo Wop Rallies are 118 and 139 miles in length with 47 and 54 stage miles in 5 and 8 stages. There is one 5 mile paved stage run twice. The remaining stages are gravel, sand and clay. The stages will run on Grays Harbor and Pacific County Roads, City of Montesano roads, USFS Roads and Quinault Indian Nation Forest Roads. The final details of the route and schedule will be contained in the route book issued at registration after successful completion of scrutineering. The rally will start on Sat at 1000 hours at Crane Creek Reload and start Sunday at 0840 hours, at the Olympic Inn Motel (Headquarters hotel). Cars will start at one minute intervals. The Doo Wop Rally Series is sanctioned by NASAa. The events qualify for the 2008 NW Rally Championship.
NW. Championship competitors will be completing in 1 Novice Drivers' Class and Car Classes i.e. Open, PGT, Prod, Gp5 and GP2
Section V: Entry Information and Fees
Entry to the event will require:- A complete and legible entry form submitted by mail or email on a standard DOO WOP form available at doowoprally.com
- A valid drivers license for driver and co-driver
- A current NASA competition license. A NASA license may be obtained at the event.
- Completed entry form for crew and service crew members and proof of insurance for rally car and service vehicle(s).
The entry fee is $300.00 (U.S. Funds) paid or postmarked by 2/1/2008, or $350 postmarked or paid after 2/1/2008. Make check payable to Ray Damitio. Mail to: Ray Damitio, P.O. Box 186. Montesano WA 98563. Entries may be emailed to wyndriver@olynet.com. Payment may be made at registration for emailed entries.
An entry fee will be refunded only if an entry is not accepted, the vehicle does not pass scrutineering, or the event does not take place. Once the vehicle has passed scrutineering, the entry fee will not be refundable.
Section VI: Scrutineering
See Section 1 Timetable. Cars will be clean and washed for scrutineering. Applicable regulations: No car will be allowed to start unless it complies with NASA regulations and requirements. Competitors must go to Scrutineering with suits and helmets in the car, for both driver and co-driver, or they will not pass scrutineering. All turbo vehicles in Open and Production GT classes will be checked for restrictor size. Open and Production GT classes will be checked for restrictor size. Open class vehicles will be required to have a 34mm restrictor, and Prod GT class vehicles will be required to have a 32 mm restrictor. Inspected turbos will be sealed.Section VII: Service
Service is permitted on this event as designated in the route book.All vehicles MUST follow designated service route.Control Zones (Areas) are considered Parc Fermes. There will be NO "OPEN SERVICE" allowed on these events. All service will be performed in designated service areas. No trailers are permitted in the service area in Taholah. Service will be monitored. See addendeum for trailer parking areas in Taholah.
Those competitors reported to be leaking either oil or gasoline will be required to repair the leaks before being allowed to continue the event.
All vehicles being serviced will require a drop cloth covering the complete area beneath the vehicle and covering the area beneath the fuel filling point.
Section VIII: Pace Notes
The prohibition of pace notes will be strictly enforced the first time a particular stage is run. On the second running of the same stage, a crew may use annotations to the route book, prepared by them, on the previous run. A ten minute penalty will be assessed to those competitors not adhering to this rule.Section IX: Traffic Infringements
Any traffic citation received during the running of the event by any crew member or service crew member will be reviewed by the Event Steward for compliance with NASA rules.Section X: Marshall Identification
Control marshals will wear yellow or orange control marshal vests.Section XI: Controls and Time Cards
Competitors may check in early at the final control each day, and declare their ideal arrival time, as long as that time has not passed. (Note: The control may not be set up prior to 15 minutes before the scheduled arrival time of the first competitor vehicle). The entries on the competitor vehicle Timecard is the official record from which scoring decisions will be made. It is the responsibility of the competitors to verify all entries made on the Timecard at the time of entry. No changes to an entry on the Timecard, other than changes made by control personnel at the time of original entry, will be made, except at the discretion of the organizers when there are:
- Discrepancies with the control logs.
- Mathematical errors in stage time computations
No protests or inquiries, based upon entries made on Timecards, shall be accepted.
An Observation Control may be used to check for violation of local laws or NASA rules.
Replace or supplement NASA Rules with the following:
All route book - time cards and control operations will be per normal NW timing and control practices
The target check-in time is the time obtained by adding the ideal time allowed to complete the stage and transit sections to the start time of the previous Special Stage, or to the out time from the previous time control, these items being expressed to the minute (the seconds having been dropped.)
Exclusion for Lateness
Lateness exceeding 30 minutes over the time allowed between a MTC or ATC and the next ATC, RTC or MTC, whichever comes first, or a total lateness of more than 30 minutes per day will result in the exclusion of the crew. Exclusion may occur at any time control.Exclusion for Earliness
Earliness exceeding 10 minutes under the time allowed between a MTC or ATC and the next ATC, RTC, or MTC, whichever comes first, or total earliness of more than 10 minutes per day will result in the exclusion of the crew.Section XII: Application/Interpretation of the Regulations
The Clerk of the Course is charged with the application of the present regulations during the running of the event. The standard NASA procedure will be used in case of claims. Inquiries shall be written on plain paper and submitted to the Clerk of the Course, the Event Steward, or the Organizer, in this order. Inquiries presented to the Scoring Crew are not valid.Section XIII: Amendments to the Regulations - Supplements
- All finishers will score one point toward the NW Rally Championship.
- Penalty for lateness will be 12 seconds per minute lateness to a control.
- Timing will be the NW timing system.
- When running a stage in both directions, different color arrows will be used.
- Exclusions to NASA Regulations and Rules will be published as an addendum to the Supplemental Regulations and will be posted on this website and doowoprally.com.
Section XIV: Provisional Scores
Provisional scores will be posted at the awards dinner at 1900 hours. Scores will be final 30 minutes after posting or 30 minutes after any inquiries or protests are resolved.Section XV: Awards
Awards will be presented for the NW Rally Championship Championship. Awards will be presented for each individual rally, Overall Series winners, fastest Brooklyn Stage time, and 1st Overall for Series.Section XVI: Prize Giving
Awards will be presented at the dinner on Sunday evening in Oakville. Prize winners must be present to receive awards unless prior arrangements are made with the organizer or event steward. Note: Please try to make as late as possible plane reservations, or departure times. Your event workers like to see their 'rally gods" receive the awards. They have worked hard and have sacrificed their time and energy so you may have a safe and efficient event. They deserve your consideration.Saturday Pizza Party & Sunday Grange Banquet

The awards dinner at the Oakville Grange. Delicious home cooked food for a $5.00 donation to the Oakville Food Bank. (Soda provided, bring whatever else you may want to drink).
We will also be taking donations for flood victims in Lewis County.
Addendums
#1 - Service teams at the Crane Creek Reload Area are instructed to park as close as possible to the FRONT of the area. Please try and leave as little space as possible between teams. All service crews and any other guests or spectators MUST NOT climb on log piles or equipment in the service area for any reason.
#2 - Supplemental Section II (Timetable) could drastically change due to new roads which have been requested but not approved at the time of this writing.
